ALL Writing - My Journey as a Writing Teacher!

This term we have a whole school writing programme of development...ALL Writing. Accelerated Literacy Learning programme is in full swing within my classroom.

So far, we have created individual profiles for a small group of students, and we are planning to address thier specific learning needs in the attempt to accelerate thier learning in writing and most importantly...to meet the standard by the end of year!!!

It is a new way of teaching and learning for me and my kids, however, to be able provide the necesaary time to work with these students, the mandatory 40 minute sessions provide lots of time for students to absorb the teaching.

This week, week three, I am seeing movement in the childrens understanding of how to plan successfully for writing and also there ability to use resources to deepen thier ideas, and "guess what"? They are improving, which is what we want. Onwards and upwards for this not so confident writing teacher. The confidence is growing!!!

Back to being a Beginning Teacher........

Wow! wow! wow!

Who would have thought that after almost 3 years away from teaching, I would be back again working as a passionate, caring and responsible contributor to our New Zealand kids.....

After teaching at Silverdale Normal School in Hamilton, Kimi Ora Community School in Flaxmere, and a short stint as a Behavioural Learning Assistant for a group of boys at Omahu School, I find myself in my new classroom (Rimu) at James Street Primary School in Whakatane...MY OLD STOMPING GROUND!

YES...funnily enough I have come full circle back to my old primary school, of which I have many good and not so good memories.

Anyway, I'm here, and even though it has been a definately challenge, I am here doing what I love...

I am a teacher (starting again...hehe...) and I love it...

Watch this space!!!
